Severity - Hyperghetto | WYD2M (Unchained Recordings)

Mastered by Mastering Engineer Saif Bari

Whilst laying claim to a consistent liquid catalogue, including output on Fokuz Recordings and Liquid V, Leo Severity still surprises us with
his versatility. One minute he’s making an airy piece of soulful sonics and the next, with tracks like Fakeworld, he’s pushing his music so far ahead that no road has been made for it yet.

As background, whilst Leo calls Australia home, he is a born and bred Brazilian - and has personally always wanted to bring a taste of his South American heritage into the Bass music universe. Artists such as DJ Marky and Patife have brought us a flood of wonderful Brazilian-inspired DNB over the years and more recently producers such as DJ Lag have shone the Gqom light into the UK Afrobeat scene. Yet Funk Carioca, aka BAILE FUNK, is still unchartered territory in traditional Bass music circles.

Enter our latest release on Unchained Recordings - consisting of two very special tracks, which is very much driven by it’s A-side,
Hyperghetto. Exploring the Afro-Brazillian percussion of the Favelas, Portuguese permutations of Miami Bass and beatbox rhythms, it bangs hard, carrying the full weight of dancefloor Halftime. The B- side is a perfect complement. Entitled “WYD2M” (What You Do to Me), it is a gorgeously composed deep liquid roller - one for the DJ journey or for kicking back and soaking in some atmospheric vibes.
